Most Airedales have a wiry coat but some have a soft coat. The soft coat tends to tangle and matt much more easily especially if the dog gets wet. Wiry coated Airedales may be reasonably groomed every 6 to 8 weeks under normal circumstances but soft-coated Airedales are best groomed every 4 to 6 weeks.
Maintenance grooming is minimal but increases with soft-coated Airedales. It is recommended you completely brush out your airedale at least on a weekly basis and have full service professional grooming at least every 6-8 weeks. Check the Airedale's ears for dirt weekly.
