The rough coat is wiry and dense, the harder and more wiry the better. On no account should the dog look or feel woolly, and there should be no silky hair anywhere. The rough coat should be stripped only and should not be formed with scissors or clippers in any way. The smooth coat is straight, short, tight and glossy, with no trace of wiry hair. The Brussels Griffon should be stripped at least monthly to rid the dog of excess hair. Full service professional grooming is recommended at least every 4 weeks.
Some customers choose a lower maintenance, less expensive alternative to stripping (above) such as a shave or brushout (quoted).
