Cats continually groom themselves. It is recomended cats be bathed no more than once per year and only if there is a reason for it (like they smell). The Cat needs to be completely brushed out at least weekly to deter excessive shedding, tangling and matting. With sufficient grooming long haired cats should not need to be shaved. Full service professional grooming is recommended at least every 4-8 weeks.
