The Cocker Spaniel needs to be completely brushed out at least weekly to deter excessive shedding, tangling and matting. The Cocker Spaniel may mat easily if exposed to moisture and not brushed or combed properly.  The coat may be deceiving and become out of control quickly, so it is important to keep this breed on a regular grooming routine.. Take care to brush the cocker spaniel all the way to the skin, using the correct brush.   Full service professional grooming is recommended at least every 6 weeks.

Protein-enriched shampoos followed by cream rinses/conditioners can add to the luster of the Cocker Spaniel coat.
