Daily grooming is very helpful with a full coated Maltese. The haircoat should be long, flat and silky, and without an undercoat. It is somewhat easy to become matted, especially when exposed to moisture. The Maltese should be completely brushed out at least twice weekly to deter excessive shedding, tangling and matting. Full service professional grooming is recommended at least every 4 weeks.

Some customers will choose a shorter, lower maintenance cut such as a puppy cut (pictures) however, keeping your maltese full coated is possible with sufficient home maintenance.

For more information on home maintenance grooming and equipment please contact our groomer!

Consider using a
Specialty Shampoo or conditioner to spruce up your maltese’s coat & ask for Toothbrushing for dental hygiene.
Whitening shampoo and the soft and silky treatment are common ad-ons for this breed!
