Regular brushing and combing daily or at least every other day is essential in order to prevent tangling and to remove hair shed. The density of the hair coat can be misleading. The haircoat is dense and so easily matted that when it is not cared for a period of time, it can become so matted a groomer has no choice but to remove the coat. The Old English Sheepdog should be completely brushed out at least twice weekly to deter excessive shedding, tangling and matting. Full service professional grooming is recommended at least every 4 weeks.
